December 2021/ January 2022 Update

Big thank you to Yukonstruct! Charles Kalinsky represented Climb Yukon in the 3 month Yukonstruct Business Bootcamp (https://www.yukonstruct.com/service/startup-bootcamp-3/). That culminated with a Demo Day, November 30, where each entrepreneur gave a passionate pitch of their business idea.

Climb Yukon wants to give a big thank you to the team at Yukonstruct, including but not limited to Lana Selbee, Chin Chang, Cat Kelly, Chaofeng Zhang, and Kalin Pallett. Thank you to all our amazing guest speakers and their inspiring stories. I am deeply appreciative of all those entrepreneurs who participated in the 12 weeks program. Good luck with your incredible projects and thank you for the inspiration with all your hard work!

Also at the end of the year, Climb Yukon was awarded a Community Development Fund (CDF). We will use this funding to create a Project Manager term position to support the Pre-Operational plans for the future climbing facility. The job competition was open for one month, December 13, 2021 to January 16, 2022. We were blown away by the number of strong and competitive applications! The excitement in the community to want to bring this project to fruition is palpable.

The PM position is one aspect of the project, but there are lots of steps between here and a gym. There will be many ways you can be involved. We will be holding our Annual General Meeting (AGM) this spring. We are always looking for help with our committees, including programming, membership, grant writing, fundraising, etc.

Big thank you to the 22 candidates who applied! We appreciate the time you put into your application. We will be reviewing and interviewing applicants in the next few weeks. Expect to hear from us soon.

Climbing Gym Update November 2021
One of Climb Yukon’s most important functions is to work towards bringing a permanent indoor rock climbing facility to Yukoners, and we have some exciting updates to share with the community about this! Climb Yukon has been and continues to work closely with the Yukon Government on a promised joint indoor rock climbing and gymnastics facility. We are excited to be working with our partners, the Polarettes Gymnastics Club and Yukon Gymnastics Association, and the Infrastructure and Development Branch (Department of Community Services). We plan to provide regular updates on the progress of the project, and we welcome your support and stoke! Climb on!
