Instructor/Coach

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead climbing lessons and youth team programs.
  • Deliver technical instruction on climbing movement, belaying, rope management, and safety systems.
  • Ensure participant safety through active supervision, clear communication, and adherence to protocols.
  • Conduct assessments and orientations as needed.
  • Provide individualized feedback and guidance to climbers of all ages and abilities.
  • Assist in the organization of competitions, team training sessions, and special events.
  • Maintain equipment and instructional areas in safe, organized condition.
  • Contribute to the development of an inclusive and positive climbing culture.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Minimum of one year of climbing experience 
  • Experience teaching, coaching, or mentoring in a climbing or sport setting
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Availability on evenings and weekends
  • Experience with group supervision
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A positive attitude and professional demeanor
  • Ability to manage groups and maintain a safe, encouraging atmosphere
  • Keen observation and awareness for risk management

PREFERRED 

  • Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, and AED
  • CEC Instructor, NCCP, or equivalent certification

ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Confident and comfortable working in a high traffic environment
  • Constantly standing and walking for long periods of time
